1 Overview

WordLens ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension developed and operated by testtoeic.com. The Extension enables users to look up English vocabulary on any webpage and save words to personal vocabulary sets on their testtoeic.com account.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use, store, and protect it. By installing and using WordLens, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2 Data We Collect

2.1 Account credentials

When you sign in through the extension popup, we transmit your username/email and password to the testtoeic.com authentication API. We do not store your raw password in the extension — only the authenticated user object (user ID, name, email, account status) returned by the server is cached locally in chrome.storage.local.

2.2 Words you look up

When you highlight a word or phrase and trigger a lookup, the selected text is sent to the testtoeic.com AI agent API. This is necessary to generate the definition, translation, synonyms, and example sentences.

When you add a word to a vocabulary set, the following information is sent to and stored on testtoeic.com servers:

Your settings (translation language, UI language, enabled/disabled state) are stored locally using chrome.storage.sync. This data syncs across your Chrome browsers signed in to the same Google account. It is not transmitted to our servers.

3 How We Use Your Data

• Authentication — to verify your identity and load your vocabulary sets.
• Vocabulary lookup — to query our AI agent and return word definitions.
• Saving words — to store selected vocabulary in your chosen set.
• Service improvement — aggregate, anonymized lookup frequency may be used to improve AI response quality. Individual lookups are never tied to your identity in analytics systems.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the extension service.

4 Data Storage & Security

4.1 Local storage

User session data (authenticated user object, cached vocabulary sets) is stored in chrome.storage.local on your device. This data is accessible only to the WordLens extension and is cleared when you sign out.

4.2 Server storage

Saved vocabulary words and set configurations are stored on testtoeic.com servers located in [Vietnam / your server region]. All API communication is encrypted via HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).

4.3 Retention

Your vocabulary data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete individual words or entire vocabulary sets at any time through the extension or the testtoeic.com website. Account deletion removes all associated data within 30 days.

4.4 Security measures

• All API requests use HTTPS — no plaintext transmission.
• Passwords are never stored in the extension; only server-issued session tokens are cached.
• The extension uses Chrome's Manifest V3 architecture with strict Content Security Policy.
• No third-party scripts are injected into web pages.

6 Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — update your account information on testtoeic.com.
• Deletion — delete individual saved words, vocabulary sets, or your entire account.
• Data portability — export your vocabulary list from the testtoeic.com website.
• Withdraw consent — uninstall the extension at any time; local data is cleared automatically by Chrome.

7 Children's Privacy

WordLens is designed for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify users via the extension popup or testtoeic.com.

Your continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
